October 12, 1886
Karl Dane was a comedian and actor mainly of the silent film era. At
the peak of his career he was working alongside stars such as Rudolph
Valentino, John Gilbert, and King Vidor. In 1926 he teamed up with
George K. Arthur to form the successful comedy duo Dane & Arthur.
Death: April 15, 1934
At age 47, Dane had committed suicide by shooting himself in the head
with a revolver.
