Hot Doggity Butterflies Sandwich

Where To TailgateMakes 6 sandwiches

Baking time: 15 min.


  • Hot Dogs Ingredients
    • 1 can (11-ounce) refrigerated soft breadsticks
    • 6 hot dogs
  • Garnishes Ingredients
    • Cheddar or Mozzarella Cheese, shredded, if desired
    • Ketchup, if desired
    • Mustard, if desired
    • Pickles, if desired


Preheat oven to 350�F.

  1. Separate breadsticks at perforations to form 12 strips.
  2. Wrap 1 strip around each hot dog.
  3. Place hot dogs onto ungreased baking sheet so that ends of breadsticks are under hot dogs.
  4. Cut 1/4 inch piece of dough off each of the remaining 6 strips and reserve for feelers.
  5. Cut each strip in half crosswise and cut each in half again lengthwise. (You now have 24 pieces of dough.)
  6. Gently stretch each piece to 5 inches.
  7. Using 4 (5-inch) strips for each hot dog, form 2 loops on each side of hot dog to resemble butterfly wings.
  8. Divide each piece of reserved dough in half and form into a feeler.
  9. Attach 2 feelers to underside of breadsticks at one end of each hot dog-butterfly.
  10. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown.
  11. Remove to cooling rack and garnish as desired to decorate hot dogs to resemble butterflies.
