Tzvivvelle (Cream of Onion Soup)
Makes 6 servings.


3 tablespoons butter

2 cups yellow onions, chopped

5 cups beef broth

1/2 - teaspoon salt

1/4 - teaspoon pepper

6 slices toast

1/2 - cups cheddar cheese, grated

  • In a stockpot at medium heat, melt butter and add onions.  
  • Slowly cook until lightly browned, this may take 30 minutes.  
  • Add the beef broth.  
  • Reduce heat to low and add the broth, salt and pepper.  
  • Simmer for 15 minutes.
  • In soup bowls, place the toast. 
  • Ladle in the soup and garnish with cheese.

Picnicking & Tailgating

Heat (on stove or in microwave) and pour into a thermos.  When you get to the picnic or tailgate site, just pour and enjoy.
