Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Makes 6 to 8 servings Slow Cooker Recipes from AlansKitchen.com

Cook Time: 10-12 hours on LOW or 7-9 hours on HIGH

Ingredients

  • 5 - cloves garlic, chopped

  • 2 - cups orange juice

  • 2 - cups coffee

  • 2 - cups brown sugar

  • 16 - ounces ketchup

  • 3 - cups balsamic vinegar

  • 1 - cup molasses

  • 2 - teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 - teaspoon ground cloves

  • 24 - ounces beer

  • 6 - pounds pork butt or pork shoulder

  • 10 - cloves garlic

  • Oil

  • Salt & Pepper to taste

  • rolls

Directions

  1. Combine garlic, orange juice, coffee, brown sugar, ketchup, balsamic vinegar, molasses, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and beer for the sauce (chopped garlic through beer) in a large sauce pan and bring to a simmer. Continue to cook for 45 minutes at a low simmer, stirring occasionally to keep the sugars from scorching on the bottom of the pan.

Preheat oven to 425F.

  1. Using a small paring knife, cut deep slits into the pork and insert the garlic cloves all around. Rub the pork with oil and season liberally with salt and freshly ground pepper. Place the pork on a rack and put in the oven for 25 minutes. The high heat will sear the pork all around and give a nice crust.

  2. Place the pork in the slow cooker and cover with the sauce. Cook on LOW for 10-12 hours or on HIGH for 7 to 9 hours.  Stuff rolls with pulled pork.
