Chicken and Wild Rice

Makes 8 to 10 servings Slow Cooker Recipes from AlansKitchen.com

Prep Time: 15 min.
Cooking Time: LOW 4 to 6 hrs.

Ingredients:

  •    2 cups wild rice (uncooked)

  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds

  • 1/2 cup onions (chopped)

  • 1/2 cup celery (chopped)

  •    1 can (8 to 12 ounces) mushrooms (drained)

  •    2 cups chicken (cut up)

  •    6 cups chicken broth

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

  •    1 Tablespoon parsley

Directions:

  1. Wash and drain rice.

  2. In the slow cooker, add rice, almonds, onions, celery, mushrooms, chicken, broth, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and parsley.  Mix well.

  3. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours or until rice is cooked.  (Do not removed lid before rice has cooked 4 hours.
