Carole’s Swiss Steak
Makes 4 to 6 servings

Prep Time: 15 min.
Cooking Time: LOW f8 to 10 hrs. or HIGH 3 to 5 hrs.

Ingredients:

  • 3 - 4 - Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 - teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 - teaspoon pepper
  • 1-1/2 - teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1-1/2 - 2 - pounds round steak
  • Oil
  • 1 - cup onions, sliced
  • 1 - pound carrots
  • 1 - can (14-1/2-ounces) whole tomatoes
  • 1 - Tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 - Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Directions:

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, you want to combine flour, salt, and dry mustard.
  2. Cut stead into serving pieces. Dredge both sides in flour mixture.
  3. In a skillet, brown steak on both sides in oil. Place in slow cooker.
  4. In the slow cooker, add onions and carrots.
  5. In a small bowl, mix tomatoes, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour into slow cooker.
  6. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours or HIGH for 3 to 5 hours.
