Texas Barbecue
Beef Sandwiches (Slow Cooker)
Makes
12 sandwiches
Prep Time: 15 min
Slow Cooker Time: 2 to 3 hrs
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 - cups ketchup
- 1 - medium (1/2 cup) onion, chopped
- 1/2 - cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/4 - cup cider or white wine vinegar
- 1/4 - cup butter
- 2 - teaspoons chili powder
- 1 - teaspoon finely chopped fresh garlic
- 2 - pounds thinly sliced cooked deli
roast beef, cut into strips
- 12 - hamburger buns, split
- 12 - slices (3/4-ounce) Deli American
Cheese
Directions:
- In a 4-quart slow cooker, combine
ketchup, onion, brown sugar, vinegar, butter, chili powder,
and garlic. Stir in beef.
- Cover and cook on High heat setting for 2
to 3 hours or until flavors are blended.
- Reduce heat to Low to keep warm.
- To serve, spoon beef mixture evenly over
bottom half of buns.
- Top each with 1 slice cheese and place
top half of bun over cheese.
Stovetop Directions:
- In 2-quart saucepan, stir together
ketchup, onion, brown sugar, vinegar, butter, chili powder,
and garlic.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring
occasionally, until mixture comes to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low. Stir in beef; cook
for 15 to 18 minutes or until heated through.
