WELCOME to
Crawford State Park

1 Lake Rd.
Farlington, KS 66734
History:
Rich in history and spectacular scenery, Crawford State Park has
a flavor all its own. This southeast Kansas treasure, located 9
miles north of Girard in Crawford County, resides on a 150-acre lake
built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930’s.
The park dedicated the CCC Memorial Trail in 2005 to the CCC
members who built the lake.
This trail hosts a National CCC Alumni Foundation Statue and
items of historical importance honoring their achievement.
There are two recorded archaeological sites within the park’s
boundaries, including remnants of a 19th-century U.S. military
outpost. An interpretive trail, Deer Run Trail, connects the park
with the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks’ Farlington
Fish Hatchery, which was built shortly after the CCC completed
construction of the lake.
Description:
The 500-acre park features six campgrounds. There are 29
primitive sites,
38 electric only sites, 25 50 amp/water sites, and 20 30 amp/
water sites. All of the campsites have a spectacular view of the
lake.
The park also offers limited reservation sites. In Rocky Cove
Campground there are four RV sites that can be reserved.
Lakeview Group Use area has 10 electric sites and is located at
the south end of the lake. It is ideal for family reunions, club
campouts, and other group activities.
Beach shelter house may be reserved for special events. It is
found next to the beach playground and swimming area.
Crawford State Park offers several lakefront rental cabins with
all the comforts of home in a beautiful lake setting. The cabins are
by reservation only and are available year round.
This is the front of the cabin, which faces the lake.
Shady Rest is the largest cabin. Three very new cabins will
become available to rent by early 2009.
Available for your convenience are two boat ramps, three
bathhouses, courtesy docks, and a dump station. Four hiking and
biking trails, a swimming beach, and horse shoe pits
The playground at Crawford State Park's beach area was installed
in 2006. Access to the beach swimming area, shelter house, bathroom
facilities, and marina are found within easy walking distance. The
playground consists of numerous swings, three slides, two sets of
climbing structures, and a playhouse. It is ADA compliant.
It offers more recreational opportunities in addition to camping,
fishing and boating. Limited food and convenience items and
delicious meals are available at the marina restaurant Friday
breakfast through Sunday lunch.
Anglers enjoy excellent fishing for channel catfish, crappie, and
striped bass.
Pleasure boating, skiing, and swimming are among favorite
recreational pursuits.
Located on the edge of the Ozarks, Crawford State Park provides a
variety of landscapes seen in Kansas state parks. Redbud trees offer
spectacular beauty in the spring along with a wide variety of
colorful wildflowers, birds, and butterflies. The lush foliage of
the surrounding forest is a naturalist’s delight.
