WELCOME to Boyd Lake State Park
Boyd
Lake State Park has something for all types of water recreationists in
every season: boating, fishing and swimming in the summer and ice
fishing and lake-side hiking in the winter.
All types of water craft- ski boats, fishing boats, personal water
crafts, sailboats, canoes--use Boyd's 1,700 surface-acres of water in
the spring through fall.
Boyd also has a sandy beach and pavilion (including coffee shop)
for swimmers. Boyd also has a modern campground with 148 paved
pull-through sites.
Activities
- Biking
- Bicyclists can enjoy paved trails under cool cottonwood
trees next to the water's edge. Boyd's trail is a segment of
the City of Loveland's recreation trail system.
- Boating
- Boyd Lake State Park has three launch ramps: one or more
ramps may be open depending on water level.
- Camping
- The Boyd Lake campground has 148 paved, electrical,
pull-through campsites, which can accommodate tents, pick-up
campers, trailers and motor homes. Three restrooms with pay
showers are scattered throughout the campground. Playgrounds,
horseshoe pits, picnic tables and grills create a family
friendly camping experience. A holding tank dump station is
located in the campground. Campground reservations can be made
180 days in advance.
- Hiking
- Hikers and bicyclists enjoy the paved and grassy trails
beside the beaches, under cool cottonwood trees next to the
water's edge. Boyd's trail is a segment of the City of
Loveland's recreation trail system. All pets must be on a
leash, and visitors are asked to pick up after their pets.
Remember to pick up after your pets.
- Ice Fishing
- As always, please use caution when on the ice. Please
remember the following safety tips (1) always have a personal
flotation device available (2) never go out on the ice without
a partner (3) tell someone where you are going and when you
will return (4) check with park personnel for ice conditions;
don't always trust signs (5) carry some kind of device so that
if you do fall through the cracks you can help yourself (ice
picks, claws, hooks, etc.).
- Jet Skiing
- Individuals 14 or 15 years old who want to drive a jet ski,
should call the park office at 970-669-1739 and inquire about
the Boating Safely courses. Classes held 7-9 pm at Loveland
Public Library 300 N. Adams Ave, Loveland. The 2009 Boating
Safely Classes will be held at the Loveland Public Library:
April 21, May 19, June 11, June 25, July 9, July 23, August 13
and August 25. A class will be held on May 14 7 pm - 9 pm at
the Loveland Pulliam Community Bldg. 545 N. Cleveland Ave.,
Loveland.
- Picnicking
- The park features 95 first-come-first-served picnic sites.
Mariner Point Group Picnic Area available by reservation only
provides sand volleyball, horseshoe pits, electricity,
restrooms, water, playground equipment and BBQ pits. Mariner
Point can accommodate up to 200 people, has 2 large charcoal
grills, electricity, twenty 8' picnic tables, two large
serving counters. The cost to rent is $90 Monday - Friday and
$180 Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Reservations can be made
up to 1 year in advance by calling the park office at
970-669-1739.
- Swimming
- From swimming to water skiing, Boyd Lake has water
activities for everyone in the family. The Boyd Lake State
Park swim beach provides cool relief on Colorado's warm summer
days. A pavilion at the beach includes rinsing showers,
restrooms, a playground and picnic tables. Float toys may be
used in the buoyed-off swimming area. For the safety and
enjoyment of our visitors, glass containers and pets are
prohibited on the swim beach. Boats are prohibited within the
buoyed swim area. Swim beach area closed Labor May - Memorial
Day.
- Volleyball
- There is a sand volleyball court at Mariner Point Group
Picnic Area. The Group Picnic Area is a reserved area only,
call 970-669-1739 for more information.
- Water Skiing
- Water-skiing is permitted the south half of the lake only.
All powerboats in the designated ski area must travel in a
counter-clockwise direction.
