The first phase of the project consists of an outdoor amphitheater, an instrument builders' shop, restrooms, and parking facilities. Throughout the past two summers, performances by national and regional bands have filled the arena each weekend. Doc Watson, Ricky Skaggs, Del McCoury and others have taken the stage of the Blue Ridge Music Center.

Milepost 188.8: Groundhog Mountain Parking Overlook

You discover this high point affording 360 degree view. Observation tower. Examples of various types of old chestnut rail fences. Picnic area and comfort station. Alt. 3,030.

Milepost 189.9: Puckett Cabin

It was the home of Orelena Hawks Puckett, storied local midwife. Alt. 2,850.

Milepost 213: Blue Ridge Music Center

A new Parkway facility with an outdoor stage and amphitheater which features regularly scheduled seasonal performances (June-September) of old-time and bluegrass music.
