Clarkdale is a town in Yavapai County,
Arizona, United States. According to 2006 Census Bureau estimates,
the population of the town is 3,836.
Clarkdale, formerly a mining town, is now
largely a retirement community with an eye for the arts. Clarkdale
is presently (2007) growing rapidly, with several large new
subdivisions under construction.
The Phoenix Cement plant is Clarkdale's sole
remaining major industry. The cement plant was built in 1959 to
supply Portland cement for the construction of Glen Canyon Dam.
Recently enlarged and refitted with advanced pollution-control
equipment, Phoenix Cement is owned by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa
Indian Community.
Clarkdale is home to the Verde Canyon
Railroad, a scenic excursion train that follows part of the route of
the Verde Valley Railroad, constructed in 1911-1912 to serve Senator
Clark's United Verde Copper Company.
Clarkdale Parks
Clarkdale Pool:
19 N. Ninth Street located behind the Clark Memorial Clubhouse. The
pool is open late May through mid August and offers lap swim and
open swim sessions. Throughout the season many programs are
available to participate in: lifeguard certification course, swim
lessons for all ages, water aerobics and Jr. Lifeguard course. The
pool is available to rent for private occasions. Parking is located
in the town hall parking lot. For more information on the pool or

Selna Ball Field:
701 Second North Street
Located at the corner of Main Street and Broadway. This Ball Field
hosts Little League games and has lights available for night games.
Mongini Park:
700 Main Street
Located adjacent to Selna Ball Field, ½ basketball court, ramadas
and playground equipment.
Clarkdale Park
1001 Main Street:
Located on Main Street in the heart of the original Clarkdale
Townsite. This large park hosts a playground, public bathrooms,
picnic tables and a historic band stand. The park is available for
rent for weddings and other special events.
Caballero Park:
525 Fiesta Street
Located in the Patio Park Subdivision on Fiesta Street. This park
has a children's playground, picnic area and a half court basketball
court.
Centerville Park:
599 Avenida Centerville
Located in the Centerville Subdivision at the end of Avenida
Centerville. This park has restrooms, a full basketball court,
ramadas, swings, play field and play structure.
