Elderberry Jelly

Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.comIngredients

  • 2 - pounds green grapes, remove stems
  • 4 - pounds elderberries, remove stems
  • 4 - pints. water
  • 2 - pounds sugar


  1. Place grape and elderberries in separate saucepans and cover each with 2 � pints water.
  2. At low heat, simmer until you reduce fruits to pulp. Strain and combine in 1 saucepan.
  3. Simmer until fruit syrup thickens and you can thread from a spoon.
  4. Increase heat to moderate and bring to a quick boil. Remove from stove.
  5. Pour into hot, sterilized jars. Cool the jelly and seal with paraffin.
