Strawberry Pie

Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.comMakes 1 (deep 8-inch) pie.

Prep Time: 20 min
Baking Time: 30 min + 10 min


  •         Rich Pastry
  • 3/4   cup sugar
  • 1      Tablespoon butter
  • 4      cups strawberries
  • 1/3   cup flour, sifted
  •         Pinch of salt


Preheat oven to 350� F.

  1. Use Rich Pastry
  2. Roll out bottom crust and line deep pie dish. 
  3. Sprinkle a little sugar across crust and dot with butter. 
  4. Mix strawberries with sugar and pour into shell. 
  5. Dredge lightly with flour and salt, dot with butter. 
  6. Roll out top crust and gash a design for air holes. 
  7. Place on pie, crimp, and seal.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes. 
  9. Remove, sprinkle a little powdered sugar on the crust, brush with a tiny bit of butter. 
  10. Return to oven, bake 10 minutes longer, when crust will be golden brown.
