1/2 - cup butter
1 - cup sugar
1 - cup milk
2 - cups flour, sifted
1 - heaping teaspoon baking powder
1 - cup raisins or figs, chopped
Sauce
1 - cup sugar
2 - tablespoons butter
2 - cup boiling water
1 - Tablespoon flour with
1 - Tablespoon cold water
1 - teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven 350� F. Grease bread pan.
- Mix creamed butter and sugar with milk and flour, sifted with
baking powder.
- Dredge fruit with a little flour and fold in.
- Bake for about 30 minutes.
- For the sauce, cream sugar and butter, add mixed flour and
water, and stir together.
- Stir mixture into the boiling water
and simmer over low heat until sauce clears.
- Add vanilla.
