Baked Eggs
Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.comMakes 4 servings


  • 4 - eggs (separate whites and yolks)
  • 1 - Tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 - teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 - teaspoon pepper
  • 4 - slices toast


Preheat oven to 350� F.

  1. In a small bowl, beat the egg whites.
  2. In a pan at moderate heat, melt the butter. 
  3. Arrange the egg whites on it in four �nests� by swirling with a spoon. 
  4. Slide the egg yolks one at a time into the centers of the nest. 
  5. Place pan in oven and watch carefully to prevent scorching. 
  6. When egg whites have begun to color and the yolks are seat, season with salt and pepper, and serve on toast. 
  7. Garnish with a dab of butter.
