Aline Dillinger's Spice Cookies
Makes about 7 dozen cookies.
- 1/2 - cup melted butter
- 1/2 - cup brown sugar
- 1 - cup molasses
- 1/2 - teaspoon soda dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water
- 2-1/2 - cups flour, sifted
- 1/2 - teaspoon salt
- 1 - teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 - teaspoon ginger
- 1 - egg
Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease cookie sheets.
Mix melted butter, sugar, and
molasses in a bowl.
Add soda in water.
Sift in flour, salt, and
spices, mix well.
Stir in egg and beat for 5 minutes.
Next day roll out very thin on floured board, cut in shapes.
Place on cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
