Soup and Chowder Recipes
Soup is a food that is made by combining ingredients, such
as meat and vegetables with stock, juice, water or another liquid.
Hot soups are additionally characterized by boiling solid
ingredients in liquids until the flavor is extracted, forming a
broth.
Chowder is any of a variety of soups, enriched with salt
pork fatback and thickened with flour and some sort of seafood, or
more traditionally with crushed ship biscuit or saltine crackers,
and milk. To some Americans, it means clam chowder, made with
cream or milk in most places, or with tomato. Corn chowder is a
thick soup filled with whole corn (maize) kernels.
