Basic Meatloaf

Baking Tim: 1 hr.

Ingredients:

  •       1  Tablespoon butter
  •    1/2  cup finely chopped onion
  •       1  can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2  teaspoons Italian Seasoning, divided
  •       2  pounds ground beef
  •       2  slices white bread, crumbled
  •    1/2  cup milk
  •       2  eggs, beaten
  •       2  teaspoons seasoned salt
  •    3/4  teaspoon Black Pepper, Ground

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375-degrees F.

  1. In a small skillet, melt butter on medium heat. Add onion.

  2. Cook and stir 5 minutes or until softened.  Cool slightly.

  3. Mix tomato sauce and 1/2 teaspoon of the Italian seasoning in small bowl.  Set aside.

  4. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, crumbled bread, cooked onion, milk, eggs, seasoned salt, remaining 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning and pepper.

  5. Shape into a loaf in foil-lined 13x9-inch baking pan.

  6. Bake for 45 minutes. Spoon seasoning tomato sauce over meat loaf.

  7. Bake for 15 minutes longer or until cooked through.

  8. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing.
