Double Apple Cheese Pie
Makes 8 servings.

Ingredients

1 - package (15 ounce) ready-made refrigerated pie crusts
1-1/2 - cups fresh pineapple, chopped
5 - cups Granny Smith apples or other tart apples,
peeled & thinly sliced
1/2 - cup sugar
1/3 - cup all-purpose flour
1 - teaspoon. ground cinnamon
1 - cup shredded smoked or sharp Cheddar cheese

Directions

Prepare pie crust as directed on package for two-crust pie using 9-inch pie pan.

Preheat oven to 425F.

  • In large bowl, add the pineapple, apple, sugar, flour and cinnamon. 
  • Mix set aside. 
  • Sprinkle 1/2-cup cheese over bottom crust before spooning in filling. 
  • Pour pineapple mixture into pie shell. 
  • Bake for 40 minutes or until apples are tender. 
  • Evenly sprinkle remaining 1/2-cup cheese over crust. 
  • Bake 2 to 3 minutes more or until cheese melts.
