Gingerbread

Makes 12 servings

Ingredients

• 1/2 - cup butter

• 1/2 - cup brown sugar

• 1 - tablespoon ginger

• 1/2 - teaspoon powdered cinnamon

• 1/2 - teaspoon powdered cloves

• 2 - cups molasses

• 3 - cups all-purpose flour

• 3 - eggs, well beaten

• 1 - cup milk

• 1/2 - teaspoon baking soda

Directions

Preheat oven to 350-degrees F.

1. Cream the butter and sugar until smooth.  Stir in the ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.  

2. Add the remaining ingredients, mixing thoroughly.

3. Pour into a buttered 9-inch-square baking pan and bake for 1 hour, or until cake testing comes out dry.  

4. Cool on wire rack and then remove from pan.  Serve with Nutmeg or Hard Sauce.
