Chewy Cherry Chocolate Cookies
Makes 2 dozen or 24 (1 cookie) servings

Inspired by the perennial holiday favorite, cherry cordials, these chewy cookies are a snap to prepare. You can included them in holiday cookie gift tins, but are so delectable, you'll want to save some for yourself.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 12 minutes per batch

Ingredients

  • 1-3/4 - cups flour
  • 1/3 - cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 - teaspoon Cream of Tartar
  • 1/2 - teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 - teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 - cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter
  • 1-1/4 - cups sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 - teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 - cup chopped dried or maraschino cherries

Directions

Preheat oven to 350F. and grease baking sheets

  1. Mix flour, cocoa powder, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt; set aside.
  2. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Gradually stir in flour mixture until well mixed.
  5. Stir in chopped cherries.
  6. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto greased baking sheets.
  7. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until set.
  8. Cool on baking sheets 1 minute.
  9. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
