Pecan Chocolate Cookies

Cookie Recipes from Alan' s KitchenMakes about 2-1/2 dozen cookies

Prep Time: 20 min
Baking Time: 10 min


  •    2/3  cup butter or margarine, softened
  •    3/4  cup sugar
  •       1  egg
  • 1-1/2  teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1-2/3  cups all-purpose flour
  •    1/3  cup Cocoa
  •    1/4  teaspoon baking powder
  •    1/4  teaspoon baking soda
  •    1/8  teaspoon salt
  •     36  pecan halves
  •           Chocolate Glaze (see recipe below)


Preheat oven to 350F.

  1. In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, egg and vanilla until fluffy.
  2. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to butter mixture (dough will be stiff).
  3. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place about 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. Press cherry half into center of each ball.
  5. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until almost set.
  6. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.
  7. Prepare Chocolate Glaze. Frost each cookie. Top with pecans.

Chocolate Glaze

About 1/2 cup glaze


  • 2     Tablespoons sugar
  • 2     Tablespoons
  • 1/2  cup SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Chips or Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips


  1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils and sugar is dissolved.
  3. Remove from heat; immediately add SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Chips or Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips, stirring until melted.
  4. Cool until glaze is of spreading consistency.
