Raisin-Filled Cookies

Baking Time: 15 min


  •       1  cup sugar
  •       1  egg
  •    1/2  cup milk
  •       1  teaspoon vanilla
  •    1/2  cup butter, softened
  • 3-1/2  cups flour
  •       2  teaspoons cream of tartar
  •       1  teaspoon baking soda
  •           Raisin-Filling (see recipe below)


Preheat oven to 350 F. and lightly greased cookie sheet.

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream sugar, milk, vanilla, and butter.
  2. Add flour, cream of tartar, and baking soda. Mix well.
  3. Roll out thinly and cut out using a round cookie cutter.
  4. Spoon 1-teaspoon of filling on 1/2 of the cut-out cookies.
  5. Place cookie with filling on prepared cookie sheet.
  6. Using remaining cookies as tops and crimp edges to seal.
  7. Make small slits on the top cookie.
  8. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Raisin Filling


  •    1  cup raisins
  •    1  cup sugar
  •    1  cup water
  •    2  Tablespoons flour
  • 1/4  teaspoon salt


  1. In a food processor, grind raisings.
  2. In a saucepan, combine raisins, sugar, water, flour and salt.
  3. Cook until very thick.
