    •    2  large (1 cup) ripe bananas, mashed
    •    1  teaspoon vanilla
    •    2  cups all-purpose flour
    •    1  teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2  teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/4  teaspoon salt
  • Frosting Ingredients:

    •    1  package (3-ounce) cream cheese, softened
    •    1  teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 375-degrees F.

  1. In a large bowl, combine sugar, 3/4 cup butter, brown sugar, sour cream and eggs.

  2. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy.  Add bananas and vanilla.

  3. Continue beating until well mixed.  Reduce speed to low.

  4. Add 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.  Beat until well mixed.

  5. Spread batter into greased 15x10x1-inch jelly-roll pan.

  7. Melt 1/4 cup butter in 1-quart saucepan over medium heat.

  8. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring constantly and watching closely, until butter just starts to turn golden. (Butter will get foamy and bubble.)

  9. Remove from heat.  Cool completely.

  10. In a small bowl, combine browned butter, powdered sugar, cream cheese and vanilla in small bowl.

  11. Beat at low speed for 2 to 3 minutes, scraping bowl often, until smooth.

  12. Frost cooled bars.  Sprinkle with pecans.

Alan's Kitchen Tip:

  • Instead of frosting, sprinkle powdered sugar over the top using a fine mesh strainer or sifter.
  • To toast nuts, spread evenly in shallow baking pan. Bake at 350-degrees F., stirring once, for 5 to 7 minutes or until light areas of nuts begins to brown.
