Almond Strawberry Bars

Ingredients:
- Crumb Mixture Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- Topping Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- Filling Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup strawberry preserves
- Glaze Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 to 2 teaspoons milk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 8-inch
square baking pan.
- In a small mixer bowl, combine 1 1/4 cups flour,
1/2 cup butter, and 1/3 cup brown sugar.
- Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, for 1 to
2 minutes or until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press on bottom of square baking pan.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until edges are lightly
browned.
- While baking make Topping, in a small bowl,
combine 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup butter, and almond
extract.
- Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, for 1 to
2 minutes or until well mixed. Set aside.
- Spread preserves to within 1/8 inch from edge of
hot, partially baked crust.
- Sprinkle with topping.
- Continue baking for 20 to 25 minutes or until
edges are lightly browned. Cool completely.
- Combine powdered sugar and almond extract in
small bowl. Stir in enough milk for desired glazing consistency.
- Drizzle glaze over bars.
