Basic Barbecue Sauce

Cowboy Cooking Recipes from AlansKitchen.comMakes about 1-1/2 cups


  • 1 - Tablespoon corn oil
  • 1/2 - cup diced yellow onion
  • 2 - Tablespoon diced jalapeno
  • 1 - Tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 - cup tomato ketchup
  • 1/4 - cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 - cup cola
  • 2 - Tablespoon molasses
  • 2 - Tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • kosher salt and cracked black pepper to taste


  1. Heat the corn oil in a heavy pan over high heat, and saut� the onion, jalapeno, and garlic until tender.
  2. Add the other ingredients except salt and pepper, bring to a boil, and boil until sauce has reduced in volume by 1/3. 
  3. Lower the heat, season to taste, and set aside in a warm place.
