Saucy Italian Steak

Cooking Time: 1 hour 45 minutes


  • 1-1/2 - pounds beef round steak, 3/4 to 1 inch thick
  • 2 - Tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 - teaspoon pepper
  • 1 - jar (16 ounces) peppers in tomato sauce (any variety)
  • 1 - package (9 ounces) frozen Italian or regular cut green beans
  • 1/4 - cup sliced ripe olives


Preheat oven to 375F.

  1. Remove fat from beef. Mix flour and pepper. 
  2. Rub both sides of beef, shaking off excess. Cut beef into 6 serving pieces.
  3. Spray 10-inch nonstick skillet with cooking spray. Heat over medium-high heat. 
  4. Cook beef about 5 minutes, turning once, until brown. Place beef in ungreased rectangular baking dish, 11x7x1-1/2 inches. 
  5. Pour tomato sauce over beef.
  6. Cover and bake 1 hour. 
  7. Uncover and place green beans around beef. 
  8. Cover and bake about 30 minutes longer or until beef is tender. 
  9. Sprinkle with olives.
