Penn. Dutch Applesauce Cake
Makes 1 cake

Ingredients:

1 - cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 - cup butter, melted
1 - egg
2 - cups cake flour
1 - cup seedless raisins
1/2 - teaspoon salt
3/4 - teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 - teaspoon cloves
1 - teaspoon soda
1 - cup sour milk
1 - cup applesauce

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325° F. Grease & flour 9-inch loaf pans.

Sift brown sugar, mix with butter.
Beat in egg.
Sift a little of the flour over the raisins and resift the rest of the flour with salt and spices.
Stir into batter until smooth.
Dissolve soda in sour milk, add with applesauce. Beat batter well.
Pour into pans.
Bake for a few minutes.
Raise heat to 350°F. and bake for about 35 minutes longer.
