Prep Time: 2 hrs 15 min
Baking Time: 25 min
Cooling Time: 30 min

  • Dough Ingredients:

    • 4 1/2 to 5 1/2  cups all-purpose flour

    •    1/2  cup sugar

    •       1  package (1/4-ounce) active dry yeast

    •       1  teaspoon salt

    •    3/4  cup butter

    •    3/4  cup milk

    •    3/4  cup water

    •       1  egg

  • Filling Ingredients:

    •    1/2  cup sugar

    •       1  teaspoon ground cinnamon

    •    1/4  cup butter, softened

  • Glaze Ingredients:

    •       1  Tablespoon butter, melted

    •       1  Tablespoon honey

  1. In a large bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups flour, 1/2 cup sugar, yeast and salt.  In a 1-quart saucepan, place 3/4 cup butter, milk and water.  Cook over medium heat until very warm (120-degrees F to 130-degrees F).  Add milk mixture and egg to flour mixture. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, for 2 to 3 minutes or until smooth.  Stir in enough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.

  2. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic for about 5 minutes.  Place in greased bowl and turn, greased-side up.  Cover and let rise in warm place for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until double in size. (Dough is ready if indentation remains when touched.)  Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon.  Punch down dough. Roll dough to 16x14-inch rectangle on lightly floured surface.

  3. Spread dough with 1/4 cup softened butter to within 1/2 inch of edges.  Sprinkle with sugar-cinnamon mixture. Roll up, jelly-roll fashion, beginning with 16-inch side; seal seam well.  Cut into 16 (1-inch) rolls with serrated knife.  Place rolls in 2 greased 9-inch baking pans.  Cover and let rise about 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 375-degrees F.

  1. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes or until golden brown.  Remove from pan. Cool completely.

  2. In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon butter and honey in small bowl. Mix well.

  3. Brush glaze on rolls.

Alan's Kitchen Tip:

  • Rolls can be baked in 13x9-inch baking pan instead of 2 (9-inch) round baking pans. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes.
