Alan�s Country Ribs & BarBQ Sauce

Ingredients

  • Sauce Ingredients
    • 1/2 - cup firmly packed brown sugar
    • 1/2 - cup (1 medium) chopped onion
    • 1/3 - cup Worcestershire sauce
    • 1/4 - cup Butter
    • 1/4 - cup lemon juice
    • 1 - bottle (28-ounce) ketchup
    • 1 - jar (6-ounce) prepared mustard
    • 2 - Tablespoons vinegar
    • 1/2 - teaspoon chili powder
  • Ribs Ingredients
    • 6 - pounds country-style pork ribs
    • 6 - cups water

Directions

Sauce

  1. In a 3-quart saucepan, add brown sugar, onion, Worcestershire sauce, butter, lemon juice, ketchup, mustard, vinegar, and chili powder.
  2. Cover and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sauce comes to a full boil for about 10 to 15 minutes. Reduce heat to low.
  3. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until sauce is thickened and flavors are blended for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
  4. Strain sauce, if desired.

Ribs

  1. In a 4-quart saucepan, place ribs and add water.
  2. Cover and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until water comes to a full boil for about 25 to 30 minutes. Reduce heat to low.
  3. Cook 30 to 35 minutes or until ribs are fork tender. Drain and pat dry.
  4. Heat one side of gas grill on medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.
  5. Place coals to one side in charcoal grill.
  6. Make aluminum foil drip pan; place opposite coals.
  7. Place ribs on grill over drip pan.
  8. Grill for 25 to 30 minutes, turning occasionally and brushing with sauce, until desired doneness.
  9. Serve with additional warm sauce.
